Whole Child Development

It is crucial for your child to learn not only academics but also social, emotional, cognitive, and motor skills. At the Academy of Virtual Learning, we believe in a whole-child approach to education. Our weekly schedule and curriculum ensure your child develops in all areas. We ensure this development through our quarterly 360-degree assessments.

Undisturbed Scheduled Blocks of Time

We understand that many of our parents are working from home and need time where they do not get disturbed. That can be challenging with young children at home. Our Preschool, Pre-K and Kindergarten education programs are LIVE one-hour blocks where your child will be busy and engaged. The blocks will often be a combination of interaction within the virtual classroom as well as assignments your child will be doing at home while the camera is still on. This enables your child to get advice or be directed by their teacher.

One-On-One Time With Teacher

Depending on the package you choose, your child will have blocks of one-on-one time with their teacher. This ensures that all children are fully engaged in the classroom sessions and allows the teacher to track your child’s progress. If your child has any difficulties in class, they can be addressed during this time.

Convenient

Schooling through the Academy of Virtual Learning is a convenient way to provide education for your child. We follow a consistent daily schedule to ensure a healthy routine for your child, and there is no wasted time on carpool and transportation.

How It Works

Interview

We will set up a conference where we go through your child’s current level to ensure he/she is placed in the best class for them. We will go through your child’s academic, social/emotional skills, ability to focus, interests, and more.

Programs and Enrollment

We will go through the different programs available to ensure you get the best fit for your child’s needs and your budget. You will fill out the enrollment forms and submit payment for the registration fee.

Home Setup

It is important to have a good set-up at home where your child does not have distractions. There needs to be space for your child to work and move. The light needs to be bright enough to ensure that your child appears crisp and clear on the camera and for your child to read the screen. Your child needs to be in a quiet environment without noise, pets, radio, TV, etc. We can arrange a video conference where we can help guide you to a good setup.

Child-Teacher One-on-One

It is important that your child starts to bond with her main teacher and feel comfortable in her new academy class. One-on-one sessions will help her build excitement for each of the classes she is attending.

First Day of Class

Your child will begin his or her journey by meeting new friends for the first time and starting to get more comfortable with a new way of learning.

Tip! To maximize learning growth for your child it is critical he arrives promptly to the live class each day. Also, ask your child about what he did in class that day. Your support will build excitement and motivation for him to stay a willing and happy learner.

At the Academy of Virtual Learning, we recognize the positive impact that curriculum can have on a child’s education. Providing a strong foundation is crucial for a child’s success. We believe that learning continues well past the end of a lesson. Creative Curriculum® provides the foundation for our teaching. This framework creates opportunities for hands-on exploration and discovery. The curriculum provides dynamic experiences that allow our virtual teachers to individualize education for each and every learner. Research indicates that a whole child approach to education-in which students learn content area skills like math and literacy, but also socio-emotional and cognitive skills- is developmentally appropriate and key to children’s well-being and educational success. We meet the students where they are and differentiate instruction to provide a personalized early education for each student.

At the Academy of Virtual you can expect your child to grow in each of these areas: social-emotional, physical, language, cognitive, literacy, mathematics, science and technology, social studies, and the arts! The Creative Curriculum® also uses nonverbal language, visual cues, props and pictures for children who are English or dual-language learners.
