FAQ’s

The Academy of Virtual Learning offers everything you are used to getting from a high quality preschool, pre-K and Kindergarten program when it comes to teaching and developing your child. Your child will join a virtual classroom with the same peers and homeroom teacher for the entirety of the school year. The sessions are set up to not only be interactive, but engaging and entertaining. Our highly effective curriculum is designed so students learn while at play so they are at times not even aware there is a lesson taking place and yet all of their developmental benchmarks are being met.

It is not necessary to live in North Carolina to learn through AVL. We accept students from all over the United States and hope to one day have international students enroll as well!

We are continually looking for talented new staff for our growing business. Currently we are only accepting applications from those able to commute to and from our Wake Forest, NC site. Our high-quality, entertaining, and educative program requires that each class session takes place in our professional studio classrooms.

The cost associated with each program is factored with regard to the labor-intensive nature of our teaching model. Your child will have a homeroom teacher who will take responsibility for their education just like a teacher would in an onsite classroom setting. This LIVE virtual program is custom created by each teacher to ensure their small class is being assessed to meet each child’s academic benchmarks. This model not only ensures that our students learn to read and do simple math quicker, but also develop their cognitive, creative, social, and physical skills. The sessions are intentionally engaging and entertaining which motivates your child’s excitement to learn and focus. It is learning made fun! Each of the sessions are supported by audio visual technicians who make sure all the animation, lighting, sound, video clips, lesson displays, and technical difficulties are worked out and fit with the teacher’s aim for each lesson. This also influences how children react and respond during their sessions. Albeit virtual, this is a full fledged school and we take all the steps necessary to teach your child just like in any other quality learning establishment.

Although it is by no means necessary for our students to have their own personal devices, it is critical that they have a reliable device they work from each day, in a consistent location that provides a quiet and uninterrupted environment for learning.

It is important for our parents to know that although there will be an initial weening process that requires them to assist in their child’s acclimation to virtual learning, we will eventually encourage them to begin removing themselves from the classroom to allow their child the ability to engage with their teacher and peers without depending on parental coping or correction.

Once enrolled each household will be given a Core Supply List that their student will pull from at any point in their day to day lessons. Needs for any other additional or specialty supplies required for fun projects will be emailed to parents at least 2 weeks in advance in order for them to acquire the material with ample time for shopping.

Most classes are small, but your child will have peers to look forward to every day! This is the wonder of our program; not only are our classes taught by LIVE teachers, but each student gets to see her classmates on screen as well. This allows for time to socialize during circle time, all while working productively on assignments.

Just like in any other school, if your child is late to class, they are still able to join when they arrive. Although they may not have been able to interact with the class and teacher during their absence, unlike an on-site school, each zoom lesson is recorded in order for teachers to review and make adjustments to lessons, ensuring their students are truly retaining the material. These recorded classes can be provided to the parents of students who were absent to guarantee they stay caught up!
